Understanding the Layout

Patience Card Puzzle: Solitaire Edition presents a standard 52-card deck. Seven columns form the tableau, with the first column holding one card, the second two, and so on up to seven. Only the top card of each column is face-up. The remaining cards sit in a stock pile. Four empty spaces at the top are reserved for foundation piles, one per suit.

Building Sequences

The core objective involves moving all cards to the foundation piles. Each foundation must start with an Ace and build up in the same suit to a King. On the tableau, players create descending sequences of alternating colors. For example, a red 7 can be placed on a black 8. This alternating rule adds a layer of strategic planning to every move.

Drawing from the Stock

When the tableau offers no immediate moves, players draw cards from the stock pile. The game typically draws one card at a time, adding new options to the tableau. Careful management of the stock is important, as drawing too quickly can limit future possibilities. The game does not impose a time limit, allowing players to consider each draw.

Controls and Feedback

The interface uses simple drag-and-drop mechanics. Cards snap into place when moved to a valid position. An undo button lets players reverse the last move, which is useful for testing different approaches.
